# Deposit to Hyperliquid

> How to deposit USDC or ETH from Arbitrum to Hyperliquid with Hypertake, step by step on desktop and phone, with Relay's fees and limits

Source: https://hypertake.net/docs/money/deposit · Last updated: 2026-10-17

A deposit moves **USDC or ETH from your wallet on Arbitrum One** into your Hyperliquid account, where it arrives as **USDC**. Hypertake routes every deposit through **Relay**, a third-party bridge: ETH is swapped to USDC on the way, Relay's fee is shown before you confirm, and the money usually lands within seconds.

- **Arbitrum One**: The only network you can deposit from
- **USDC or ETH**: What you can send; it arrives as USDC
- **$5**: Smallest deposit on the phone app
- **≈ $1**: Hyperliquid's one-time fee for a new account

_Illustration: An animation of coins: four USDC coins and three ETH coins fly from a wallet on Arbitrum One into a Hyperliquid balance, the ETH coins turning into USDC on the way; the balance fills, then pays out to an outcome position and a perps position._

**Where a deposit goes**

Your wallet (USDC or ETH on Arbitrum One) → Relay (a third-party bridge; swaps ETH to USDC) → Your Hyperliquid account (USDC, in your one balance) → Outcomes and perps (ready to trade)

You send to Relay's contract on Arbitrum; Relay credits USDC to your own address on Hyperliquid. Hypertake never holds the money at any point.

## What you need

- **A connected wallet.** See [Connect a wallet](https://hypertake.net/docs/money/connect-a-wallet.md).
- **USDC or ETH on Arbitrum One.** Native USDC only: bridged **USDC.e**, other tokens and other networks (Ethereum, Base, Solana…) aren't accepted.
- **A few cents of ETH on Arbitrum** for gas. Each deposit transaction pays a small Arbitrum network fee in ETH.

## What Relay is, and what it does

[Relay](https://relay.link) is an independent cross-chain bridge, run by neither Hypertake nor Hyperliquid. When you deposit, Hypertake asks Relay for a price, you send your USDC or ETH to Relay's contract on Arbitrum, and Relay pays the same value, less its fee, into your Hyperliquid account as USDC.

- **Relay's fee, shown first**: Relay's quote includes its fee (network gas and the relayer's costs). Hypertake shows the fee and what you'll get before you confirm, and adds no fee of its own.
- **ETH is swapped on the way**: Send ETH and Relay converts it to USDC as part of the deposit. You get one confirmation in your wallet.
- **USDC needs two confirmations**: First an approval that lets Relay's contract take **exactly this amount** of USDC (never more), then the deposit itself. If an earlier approval still covers it, Relay skips the first one.
- **New-account fee**: Hyperliquid charges a brand-new account a one-time activation fee of about 1 USDC. Relay passes it on inside its fee (measured at about $1.20), and Hypertake points it out: "…of it is Hyperliquid's one-time new-account fee: deposit once, not in small amounts."
- **Refunds**: If Relay can't complete a deposit, it refunds it to your wallet on Arbitrum. Hypertake says so ("Relay couldn't complete the deposit and refunds it to your wallet.") and the deposit shows as Refunded in your history.

### Checks before your wallet sees anything

- A **fresh quote** is taken when you press Deposit, not the one shown while you typed.
- The sender and the recipient must both be **your connected address**, and the money must arrive as USDC in your Hyperliquid account.
- Only two kinds of transaction are allowed: a USDC approval for no more than your amount to Relay's depository, and the deposit to that depository, carrying exactly the amount you typed.
- Every transaction names Arbitrum One, so your wallet refuses it on any other network.
- If anything differs, Hypertake stops: "Deposit refused … Nothing was sent."

## Deposit on desktop

1. **Open Deposit** Press **Deposit** in the header (it's also in your address menu and on Portfolio). The Deposit window's left side shows **Your Hyperliquid account**: Account value and Available to trade, and "Deposit to start trading" if you have less than the $1 smallest order. The right side is **Add funds from your wallet**.
2. **Choose USDC or ETH** Each button shows what that wallet holds on Arbitrum, for example **USDC · 250.00**. If the wallet has neither, the window says "This wallet has no ETH or USDC on Arbitrum yet." and offers a button to copy your address.
3. **Enter an amount** Type it, or press **Max** (for ETH, Max keeps 0.0002 ETH back for gas). Relay's live price appears under the amount, in the form **You get $99.94 to trade · fee $0.06** (or "no fee"; the figures here are only an example).
Result: On a new account, a note shows how much of the fee is Hyperliquid's one-time new-account fee.
4. **Press Deposit** The button names the amount, for example **Deposit 100.00 USDC**. Under it: "Two confirmations in your wallet: approve exactly this amount, then deposit." for USDC, or "One confirmation in your wallet." for ETH.
5. **Confirm in your wallet** Follow the status line under the button (every stage is listed below). Confirm the approval, then the deposit.
Result: Once Arbitrum confirms the transaction, the window closes and a notice follows the money: "Arriving on Hyperliquid…", then "Deposit received" with the amount now in your balance.
6. **Check the receipt** Press **Details** on the notice for the receipt: Received, Paid, Fee (marked "incl. new account" when it applies), Route (Arbitrum → Hyperliquid), Balance now, and a link to the transaction on Arbiscan. The deposit also appears in Portfolio → **Deposits & withdrawals**.

| Status line | What's happening |
| --- | --- |
| Getting a fresh price… | Hypertake takes a new quote from Relay and checks it |
| Switch your wallet to Arbitrum to continue. | Your wallet is asked to switch to (or add) Arbitrum One |
| Approve USDC in your wallet (1 of 2). | USDC only: allow Relay's contract to take exactly this amount |
| Confirm the deposit in your wallet (2 of 2). | The deposit itself (for ETH, or when no approval is needed: "Confirm the deposit in your wallet.") |
| Sending on Arbitrum… | Waiting for Arbitrum to confirm the transaction |
| Arriving on Hyperliquid… | Confirmed on Arbitrum; Relay is crediting your Hyperliquid account |

## Deposit on your phone

1. **Open Add money** Tap **Deposit** on Portfolio (or Account → Money → Deposit). The **Add money** sheet offers two ways: **From this wallet** (with what your wallet holds on Arbitrum) and **From an exchange**. Choose From this wallet.
2. **Pick the token** The button at the top (for example **USDC · 250.00 available**) opens **Pay with**: USDC ("your wallet asks twice") or ETH ("your wallet asks once").
3. **Enter the amount** Use the keypad or the slider. The line under the figure shows Relay's price, in the form **You get $49.97 to trade · fee $0.03 · ~10 s** (example figures). The smallest deposit is $5: below it the line reads "Minimum $5.00".
4. **Review** Tap **Review · $50.00**. The review shows You pay, From (your address on Arbitrum), You get, Fee (Relay's) and Arrives (Relay's own time estimate when it gives one), then "MetaMask asks twice: allow 50.00 USDC, then send. Deposits can't be reversed."
5. **Confirm in MetaMask** (Or your wallet's name.) A waiting screen shows each step: "Step 1 of 2 · Allow 50.00 USDC", then "Send 50.00 USDC", then "Confirming on Arbitrum…". Approve each one in the wallet app and come back.
Result: The screen closes into a notice, "Arriving on Hyperliquid… usually under a minute", which turns into "Deposit received" with the amount that's ready to trade. The deposit is listed in Portfolio → History; tap it for the receipt.

## Depositing from an exchange

There's no address that sends money from an exchange straight into Hyperliquid through Hypertake. It's two steps: withdraw from the exchange to **your own wallet on Arbitrum One**, then deposit from that wallet as above.

Exchange (Coinbase, Binance, Kraken…) → Your wallet (USDC or ETH, network: Arbitrum One) → Relay (Deposit in Hypertake) → Hyperliquid (USDC in your account)

1. **Copy your address** **Phone:** Add money → **From an exchange** opens **Receive on Arbitrum**: a QR code of your address, the full address, and **Copy address** / **Share**. **Desktop:** press your address in the header, then **Copy address**.
2. **Withdraw from the exchange on Arbitrum One** In the exchange, withdraw USDC or ETH to that address and choose **Arbitrum One** as the network. If you send only USDC, send a little ETH as well: your wallet needs it to pay gas for the deposit.
3. **Deposit it to Hyperliquid** Once it's in your wallet, open Deposit and follow the steps above.

> **Warning: Network and token matter**
> Send only USDC or ETH, and only on Arbitrum One. Other tokens or networks can be lost, and USDC.e (bridged USDC) can't be deposited through Hypertake.

## Fees

| Fee | Who charges it | How much |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Relay's fee | Relay | Shown in the quote before you confirm. In a measurement on 9 Oct 2026, an existing account paid about 6¢ on $37 of ETH and nothing on USDC |
| New-account activation | Hyperliquid, passed on by Relay | About 1 USDC (about $1.20 in Relay's quote), once per account |
| Arbitrum gas | The Arbitrum network | A few cents of ETH per transaction |
| Hypertake | None | $0 |

_Relay's fee varies with the amount, the token and network costs; always read the quote line. See [Fees](https://hypertake.net/docs/fees.md) for every fee in one place._

**Example: Priya's first deposit**
- Priya's Hyperliquid account is new. She deposits 100 USDC from MetaMask on Arbitrum.
- The quote line shows a fee of about $1.20, almost all of it Hyperliquid's one-time new-account fee, so she gets about $98.80 to trade.
- MetaMask asks twice: an approval for exactly 100 USDC, then the deposit. Each costs a few cents of ETH in gas.
- Seconds later, "Deposit received". Her next deposit won't carry the new-account fee.

Flow: 100 USDC on Arbitrum → Relay (fee ≈ $1.20, new account) → ≈ 98.80 USDC in her Hyperliquid balance

## Minimums and timing

- **Phone:** the smallest deposit is **$5** (Relay's bridge minimum).
- **Desktop:** the form has no fixed minimum, but Relay refuses amounts too small to route; its message replaces the quote line and the Deposit button stays off.
- **Timing:** usually seconds. Hypertake waits up to two minutes for Arbitrum to confirm, then up to three minutes for Relay to report delivery. If Relay hasn't confirmed by then, you'll see "Deposit sent" (desktop) or "Sent · still arriving" (phone): it usually lands within minutes.

## If something goes wrong

| Message | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Cancelled in your wallet. Nothing was sent. | You rejected the request in your wallet; no money moved |
| Cancelled in your wallet. The approval went through, but nothing was deposited. | The USDC approval was confirmed but not the deposit. Your USDC is still in your wallet; press Deposit again |
| Not enough ETH on Arbitrum to pay for gas. | Add a little ETH on Arbitrum to your wallet |
| The transaction failed on Arbitrum. Nothing was deposited. | Arbitrum rejected the transaction; the money stayed in your wallet |
| Relay couldn't complete the deposit and refunds it to your wallet. | Relay is returning the money to your wallet on Arbitrum; history shows Refunded |
| Your wallet already has a request waiting: open it to continue. | Open your wallet and answer the request already there |

> **Warning: Deposits can't be reversed**
> Once Relay delivers your USDC to Hyperliquid, the deposit is final. To get the money back to your wallet, [withdraw](https://hypertake.net/docs/money/withdraw.md) it, which costs Hyperliquid's $1 withdrawal fee.

## Other ways to fund your account

Hypertake's Deposit always uses Relay. Hyperliquid also has its own deposit routes, such as Circle's CCTP, which Hyperliquid calls the preferred way to bring USDC in, and its legacy Arbitrum bridge, where "the minimum deposit amount is 5 USDC" and smaller amounts are lost ([Hyperliquid: USDC](https://hyperliquid.gitbook.io/hyperliquid-docs/for-developers/api/usdc)). Money that reaches your address on Hyperliquid by any route shows in Hypertake, because it's the same account.

### How long does a deposit to Hyperliquid take?

Usually seconds once Arbitrum confirms your transaction. The phone's review shows Relay's own estimate when it gives one. If Relay hasn't confirmed after about three minutes, Hypertake says it's still arriving; it normally lands within minutes.

### What's the minimum deposit?

$5 on the phone app. On desktop there's no fixed minimum in the form, but Relay refuses amounts too small to route and the window shows its message.

### Why does a USDC deposit need two confirmations?

The first lets Relay's contract take exactly the amount you're depositing (a standard ERC-20 approval); the second sends it. ETH needs only one.

### Can I deposit from Ethereum, Base or Solana?

Not through Hypertake. Deposits come from Arbitrum One only. Move the money to Arbitrum One first, or deposit it on Arbitrum from an exchange.

### What is the $1 fee on my first deposit?

Hyperliquid's one-time activation fee for a new account, about 1 USDC, which Relay includes in its fee. It isn't charged again.

### Does Hypertake hold my deposit at any point?

No. You send to Relay's contract and Relay credits your own Hyperliquid address. Relay is a third party: see [Risks](https://hypertake.net/docs/risks.md).

- [Withdraw](https://hypertake.net/docs/money/withdraw.md): Take USDC back to your wallet on Arbitrum.
- [Buy your first shares](https://hypertake.net/docs/outcomes/buying.md): Spend the balance on a prediction market.
