# Take profit

> Set a take profit on a HIP-4 outcome position: a resting sell at your price that Hyperliquid fills even with Hypertake closed

Source: https://hypertake.net/docs/outcomes/take-profit · Last updated: 2026-10-17

A **take profit** is a resting sell of **all your shares on one side** at a price you choose. It waits on Hyperliquid's order book and sells the moment a buyer pays that price, whether or not Hypertake is open. It's the only outcome order on Hypertake that waits: buys and ordinary sells fill at once or not at all.

_Illustration: A price rail from 30¢ to 70¢ with a marker at Bought 42¢ and a target marker at 60¢. A dot for the current price moves from 42¢ up to 60¢; when it arrives, a notice says the take profit filled and the shares sold at 60¢. The profit shown above the rail is after the 1% fee._

## Set a take profit on desktop

1. **Find the card** On the market's page, under **Your position**, each side you hold has a **Take profit** card. It reads **Off · not set** until you set one.
2. **Choose your price** Drag the slider, or press a profit pick: **+$1**, **+$2**, **+$5** or **+$10**. It starts at the price that makes about **+$2**.
Result: The big number is your profit after the 1% fee, with "+X% · sells at Y¢ a share". Markers show **Bought**, **Now** and your **Take profit** on the rail.
3. **Press Set take profit** One click places it.
Result: "Take profit set at 60.0¢": "All 200 Yes sell the moment a buyer pays 60.0¢: +$18.80, even with this page closed." The card reads **On · waiting on Hyperliquid**.

## Set a take profit on the phone

1. **Find the section** On the market's page, the **Take profit** section sits under **Your position**, with **On** or **Off** in its heading.
2. **Choose your price** Drag the slider or tap **+$1**, **+$2**, **+$5** or **+$10**.
Result: **Profit** shows the dollars after the fee; on price markets, "BTC to go" shows roughly how far the underlying has to move.
3. **Tap Set, then confirm** Tap **Set take profit**, then **Confirm · Set at 60.0¢** within 5 seconds.
Result: "Take profit set at 60.0¢", and the section reads **On**.

## The rules

| Rule | Why |
| --- | --- |
| **Above the price now, and above break-even.** The lowest target is the higher of today's price and the price that makes at least $0.01 after the fee, plus 0.1¢. The button says **Above the price now** below that. | A take profit is for taking profit. Below the current price it would just sell at once at a worse price. |
| **At most 99.9¢.** | A share can't sell for more than it can pay. |
| **At least $1 in all** (shares × price). | Hyperliquid's minimum order. The button says **At least $1 in all**. |
| **One per side.** Setting a new one replaces the old. | Both would try to sell the same shares. |
| **All your whole shares** at the time you set it. | If you buy more later, the card says how many it covers and asks you to move it to cover them all. |
| **Profit shown after Hypertake's 1% fee.** | So the number you pick is close to what you'll keep (Hyperliquid's own fee aside). |

**Example: Nina sets a take profit at 60¢**
- Nina holds 200 Yes bought at 50¢ ($100). Yes is at 52¢ now.
- She drags to 60¢. Selling 200 at 60¢ brings $120; less 1% ($1.20) that's $118.80, a profit of **+$18.80**.
- She sets it and closes the app. That evening a buyer pays 60¢: Hyperliquid sells all 200 by itself.
- If Yes never reaches 60¢, her shares stay hers and settle at the close like any others.

Flow: 200 Yes resting at 60¢ → a buyer pays 60¢ → $120 − $1.20 fee → $118.80 to Nina's balance (+$18.80 on her $100)

## Moving, keeping and cancelling

- **Move:** drag to a new price and press **Move take profit** (phone: tap, then **Confirm · Move at X¢**). **Keep 60.0¢** puts the slider back on the one that's set.
- **Cancel:** press **Cancel take profit**. One click on desktop, one tap on the phone.
- Moving cancels the old order and places the new one in two steps, so for a brief moment neither is on the book.
- You can also see, change and cancel take profits under **Portfolio → Open orders**. On the phone, tap the row for **Change take profit**, **View market** or **Cancel take profit**.

## Edge cases

- **A buyer is already there**: If someone is already bidding your price, it fills immediately: "Sold at your take profit. A buyer was already paying 60.0¢."
- **It fills in parts**: Buyers can take some shares now and more later. The card shows "N of M sold so far; the rest sell at 60.0¢ as buyers pay it."
- **You sell by hand**: Selling cancels the take profit on that side first. If that sale then fails, the take profit isn't put back. See [Selling shares](https://hypertake.net/docs/outcomes/selling.md).
- **One-tap trading is off**: The button reads **Turn on one-tap trading to set**. On the phone, setting one is also blocked while the testnet switch is on or while you're watching an address.
- **The market closes**: A take profit only sells to buyers before the close. If it hasn't filled by then, your shares settle like any others.

## The line on the chart

On price markets, the chart draws your take profit as a line labelled "Take profit +$18.80 · BTC $81,900": roughly where the underlying would need to be for a buyer to pay your price, from a volatility model and the market's current prices. It's a guide, not a trigger. Hyperliquid doesn't watch BTC for you; your order fills only when a buyer pays your price on the outcome's own book.

> **Note: No stop loss on outcomes**
> Hypertake has no stop loss for outcome positions: the take profit only sells upward. To limit a loss, sell by hand. Perps have both; see [Take profit and stop loss](https://hypertake.net/docs/perps/take-profit-stop-loss.md).
