# Order types

> Perps market and limit orders on Hypertake, reduce-only, triggers, slippage limits and how each is sent to Hyperliquid

Source: https://hypertake.net/docs/perps/order-types · Last updated: 2026-10-17

Hypertake has two ways to open or add to a perps position: a **market order** ("Now"), which fills right away within 5% of the price or is cancelled, and a **limit order** ("At my price"), which waits on Hyperliquid's book until it fills or you cancel it. Take profit and stop loss are trigger orders that only close.

## Every order type

| In the app | What Hyperliquid receives | What happens |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Now** (phone: Market) | A limit order, immediate-or-cancel, priced 5% past the mid | Fills now against the book, never worse than 5% from the mid; whatever can't fill is cancelled |
| **At my price** (phone: Limit) | A limit order, good-til-cancelled, at your price | Rests on the book until it fills or you cancel it |
| **Only close** | Either of the above, reduce-only | Can only shrink your position, never open or grow one |
| **Take profit** / **Stop loss** | A reduce-only market trigger, limited to 10% past the trigger | Waits off the book; when the mark reaches the trigger, closes at market |
| **Close** (a position) | Reduce-only, immediate-or-cancel, 5% past the mark (the phone prices it from the mid) | Closes all or a share of the position now |

_Hyperliquid's order types are described in [Hyperliquid's docs](https://hyperliquid.gitbook.io/hyperliquid-docs/trading/order-types)._

## Market orders: "Now"

Hypertake sends a market order as an immediate-or-cancel limit order priced 5% past the mid (above it for a buy, below for a sell). It takes the best prices on the book up to that limit, and anything left is cancelled rather than left resting. The desktop button's tooltip says this: "Fills now at the best prices, at most 5% from the mid; whatever can't fill is cancelled."

On a liquid market the fill is close to the mid. On a thin one, a large order can walk the book: the phone estimates the fill from the live book before you tap, and asks you to confirm separately if it's more than 1% from the price.

## Limit orders: "At my price"

1. **Choose At my price** In **Order settings → When**, choose **At my price** (on the phone, **Market ▾ → Limit**).
2. **Set the price** Type it, or use the chips: **Now**, **−1%**, **−2%**, **−5%** for a long (**+1%**, **+2%**, **+5%** for a short). On desktop, clicking a price in the order book makes it your limit.
3. **Place it** The order rests on Hyperliquid's book. On desktop the notice reads "Limit at 78,400: on the book until it fills or you cancel it."
Result: It's listed under **Open orders** with **Cancel** (and **Cancel all** when there's more than one).

**A limit order's life**

1. **Signed**: Your trading key signs it in your browser. The signature is valid for 60 seconds.
2. **Resting**: On Hyperliquid's book at your price, with no expiry of its own.
3. **Partly filled**: Some of it matched; Open orders shows what's left of the original size.
4. **Filled**: All of it matched. Your position changes and the order leaves Open orders.
5. **Cancelled**: You pressed Cancel. Nothing more fills.

The 60-second limit is on the signed request reaching Hyperliquid, not on the order: a limit that lands stays on the book until it fills or you cancel it.

A limit priced through the market (a buy above the best ask, say) fills at once like a market order, at the book's prices. One that rests and is filled later is a **maker** order and pays Hyperliquid's lower maker fee; one that fills on arrival pays the **taker** fee.

## Only close (reduce-only)

With a position open on the market, **Order settings** shows **Only close**: "Take money out of your BTC position." Switched on, **Your money** becomes **Amount to close**, and the order can only reduce the position, so it can't flip you to the other side by mistake. Take profit and stop loss aren't offered on a reduce-only order: set them on the position instead.

## Rules every order follows

- **$10 minimum position.** Hyperliquid refuses smaller ones; a partial close must also be at least $10.
- **Sizes round down** to the market's size step, so you never send more than you typed.
- **Prices round** to Hyperliquid's rule for perps: at most 5 significant figures and 6 decimals minus the market's size decimals.
- **Leverage first.** If the leverage or margin mode you chose differs from what Hyperliquid has for that market, Hypertake sets it before sending the order.
- **60-second signature.** Each signed request expires 60 seconds after signing.

## What isn't offered

Hypertake doesn't offer post-only, stop-limit, TWAP, scale or trailing-stop orders, and there's no "modify order": to change a limit, cancel it and place a new one. Changing a take profit or stop loss places the new one, then cancels the old.

### Why didn't my whole market order fill?

There weren't enough orders on the book within 5% of the mid. The unfilled part is cancelled, never left resting, and the notice shows what did fill.

### Do limit orders expire?

No. Once on the book, a limit stays until it fills or you cancel it. Only the signed request expires: if it doesn't reach Hyperliquid within 60 seconds, it's refused and nothing is placed.

### Is a limit order cheaper?

If it rests and fills later, Hyperliquid charges its maker rate (0.015% at the base tier) instead of the taker rate (0.045%). Hypertake's 0.1% is the same either way.

- [Fees](https://hypertake.net/docs/fees.md): Maker, taker and Hypertake's 0.1%.
